Company ProfileJames Bennack, Brutal Off-Road's owner/operator, was raised in the business of modification and restoration of automobiles. Growing up in his Dad's machine shop, James learned at an early age the correct and tedious methods of machine work. At the age of 16, he began to build high performance racing engines for local street and hobby racers. Specializing in the lost art of building the big block Mopar, the drag racing bug bit. Along with a partner, James campaigned a 68' Plymouth Road Runner all over the State Of Texas for two years. Soon though an antidote for the drag racing bug was found...Speed, instead of acceleration was his new addiction. James built "LETHAL" a 68' Dodge Coronet R/T just for that purpose. A 12:1 440 magnum, 2.71 rear gears and 30" Goodyear HR series tires. (VR and ZR series were not yet available). Urethane bushings on all four lowered corners and dual sway bars helped keep it firmly planted to the ground at speeds just over 160mph. A few years later the 4 Wheel drive bug bit, and since James had grown up in the country, driving off road every day, it only seemed natural. James began repairing and building 4X4s for friends and neighbors in his spare time. This continued until Mid year in 2000 when Brutal opened it's doors full-time. |
