1969 Toyota
Landcruiser

Landis Wolf (Wolf On The Run Mobile A/C Service, SA. TX. 210-930-5014) owns this
69’ FJ-40 Toyota Land cruiser. It came into Brutal’s shop straight from the
farm. (Well, maybe a south Texas slave ranch!) It had been abused pretty bad,
three broken leaves in the left rear spring pack, the left front shackle had
been welded to the frame and spring eye, two of the six cylinders were not
firing, and to top it all off, later we discovered the right front section of
the frame rail had been tweaked. All of these little problems contributed to the
name Landis had given her, “Ilean”.

First order of business was to cut off the bent and welded on way too much front
bumper. Next, the FJ went into the air, to remove the stock springs, shocks and
what was left of the bushings. EVERYTHING was thrown into the trash, including
the shackles, spring plates and frame eye bolts. A call to Downey Mfg. was
placed, to get a set of their 4” leaf springs on the way. While we were waiting
for the springs to arrive, a 6-point Safari-type roll cage was fabricated and
fully mig welded together.
